Arunika Works ("we", "us") provides this Privacy Policy to explain how the mobile application Road Aware (the "App") handles your information.

1. Information We Collect

1-1. Location

The App collects your device location (latitude and longitude) in order to display nearby traffic congestion, road restrictions, incidents, and weather on a map. Location is collected only while you are using the App; we do not collect it in the background.

1-2. Diagnostic Information (Crash Reports)

To fix defects in the App, we collect the following through Google Firebase Crashlytics:

• Device model and operating system version
• App version and language setting
• Technical records of app crashes (stack traces)
• A log of actions immediately before a crash (such as the number of items retrieved and the map extent)
• An identifier generated by Crashlytics for each installation

These logs do not contain your location coordinates.

1-3. In-App Settings

Settings such as map scale and refresh interval are stored only on your device and are not transmitted.

1-4. Installation Identifier

On first launch, the App generates a single random string (a UUID) and stores it on your device. It is sent to our relay server with subsequent requests.

Its purpose is to keep the service fair to everyone: if one device retrieves an unusually large amount of data, the App's refresh interval is adjusted. Our relay server records only this identifier and the amount of time the App was used each month, in five-minute units.

The identifier is randomly generated. It does not correspond to your name, email address, phone number, advertising identifier, or any hardware serial number, and it is never stored alongside your location.

Deleting the App removes the identifier from your device. If you reinstall the App, a new identifier is generated.

1-5. Information We Do Not Collect

We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos, files on your device, or advertising identifiers. We do not perform usage analytics.

The installation identifier is sent only to our relay server (Cloudflare Workers). It is not sent to HERE Technologies or OpenWeather.

The Android version uses Google Maps for map rendering.

3. Storage and Retention

• We do not store location data on our servers. Our relay server (Cloudflare Workers) caches responses briefly (up to 5 minutes for congestion data, and up to 10 minutes for restriction, incident, and weather data), but never in a form linked to an individual user.
• The installation identifier and the monthly usage total are stored on our relay server. We keep only the current month and the two preceding months; older records are deleted automatically, so no record survives longer than about 90 days.
• Diagnostic information is deleted after the default Firebase Crashlytics retention period (approximately 90 days).
• Handling by each external service is governed by that provider's own privacy policy.

4. Your Choices

• You can revoke location permission at any time in your device settings. The App's core features will not work without it.
• You can turn off the weather display in the App's settings. When it is off, no weather requests are made.
• Deleting the App removes all settings, logs, and the installation identifier stored on your device. The usage totals held on our server are deleted automatically once the retention period above has passed.
• If you would like the server-side record deleted sooner, please contact us. You can find your identifier in the App's Settings screen, under "About the data area".

5. For Users in the EEA and the United Kingdom

• Legal basis: We process location data to provide the functionality you request (performance of a contract, GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)). We process diagnostic data and the installation identifier based on our legitimate interest in maintaining the quality and safety of the App and in preventing abuse so that the service remains available to everyone (Art. 6(1)(f)).
• Your rights: You have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and objection. Contact us using the details below to exercise them.
• International transfers: Some of the services listed above operate servers outside the EEA, including in the United States. Those providers rely on lawful transfer mechanisms such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
• You have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

6. For California Residents

We do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA/CPRA. To make an access or deletion request, please contact us below.

7. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

8. Security

All communication with external services is encrypted using HTTPS. API keys are held on our relay server and are not included in the App.

9. Changes to This Policy

If we change this Policy, we will update this page and revise the effective date. We will notify you in the App of any significant change.
